In the green fish recipe, I have used a paste of green peas to make the gravy. The rich green color of the dish will sure to delight your soul and taste buds.

  • Fish – 5 to 6 pieces ( rohu or bhetki)
  • Green peas- 500 gms
  • Green chilies- 6
  • Onion paste – 2 tbsp
  • Ginger-garlic paste- 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1 tbsp
  • Cumin powder- 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala powder- 1tsp
  • Cumin seeds- 1tsp
  • Bay leaf- 2
  • Dry red chili – 2
  • Sugar- 1 tbsp
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Salt- to taste
  • Saloni Mustard oil – 3/4 cup


Step 1. Wash the fish pieces thoroughly.

Step 2. Smear turmeric and salt on the fish and keep aside.

Step 3. Make a paste with peas and green chilies.

Step 4. Heat oil in a pan.

Step 5. Fry both sides of the fish pieces until lightly golden. Take them out.

Step 6. In the same oil add cumin seeds, bay leaf and dry red chili.

Step 7. Then add ginger garlic paste and onion paste.

Step 8. Next, add cumin powder and turmeric powder.

Step 9. Mix well.

Step 10. Then add paste of peas and green chilies.

Step 11. Stir for few minutes on a low flame.

Step 12. When the oil comes out, add a cup of warm water.

Step 13. Add salt and sugar.

Step 14. When it starts to boil, add fish pieces.

Step 15. Cook on a low flame till the gravy thickens.

Step 16. Add ghee and garam masala. Mix well.

Step 17. Switch off the flame.

Step 18. Remove from heat.

Step 19. Serve Green Fish recipe hot with rice.
